Treasure flower, a daisy-like attractive flower can be in various colors. This ornamental flowering plant is native to Southern part of Africa. Botanical name of the plant is Gazania rigens. It is also known by the genus name Gazania. The genus name is given after Theodorus Gaza. Plant belongs to the plant family Asteraceae (where we find all the sunflowers and daisy flowers).

Gazania (Gazania rigens) is usually an evergreen herbaceous perennial plant (also can be annual). This is a low growing plant with alternately arranged narrow leafs. Leafs are green, silvery-green. Plant can grow up to two feet in height with spreading a foot around. For this reason it is an ideal plant for growing in pot.

Gazania (Gazania rigens) flowers are showy and blooms plenty at a time. They can be in many colors (thanks to the cultivars) like yellow, white, orange, mix, etc. The flower is basically a composite flower head (daisy or sunflower like flower but sometimes having a shape of a cup). Flower blooms on the erect long stalk from the plant.
