Name of the plant is Black-honey shrub, Roast potato plant, Potato bush, etc. Binomial name of the plant is Phyllanthus reticulatus. It belongs to the plant family Phyllanthaceae. This plant is native to Asian region (more specifically in East and South Asia). In Bangladesh this plant is known as Sitki, Pankushi, Panjuli, etc. It grows in jungle without any care.

Black-honey shrub (Phyllanthus reticulatus) is a shrubby plant which rarely becomes a small tree. This branched plant is sometimes seen as climbing. A mature stem of the plant has a reddish-brown stem. Leaf of the plant is compound having elliptic (or lens like) leaflets with visible veins.

Flowers are small and pink in color. Flower blooms from the axil of leaflets before or at the same time of the leaflet. Multiple flowers emerge from the same axil and they hang downwards. Both male and female flowers appear in the same plant. Fruits are berry-like and black in color.


Photos of these Black-honey shrub (Phyllanthus reticulatus) were taken from Rangamati during July 2011. It was beside a small nameless waterfall near the Kaptai lake. In Bangladesh this plant is known as Panjuli (পানজুলি), Sitki (সিটকি), Panisitki (পানিসিটকি), Pankushi (পানকুশি).
