Golden Dew Drop (Duranta erecta) plant belongs to the plant family Verbenaceae. It has several common names across the world, such as Pigeon Berry, Sky Flower, Golden Dew Drop, etc. Botanical name of this flowering plant is Duranta erecta. But several synonyms available, such as Duranta repens, Duranta plumieri, Duranta ellisia.
Golden Dewdrop (Duranta erecta) flowers are usually very small in size. Leafs are lens shaped and has a lovely foliage. Flowers are even smaller than the leafs. Color of the flower is light violet. It has five petals and the bottom two petals are having deep violet stripe at the middle. Center of the flower has a touch of golden color which can be a reason behind its nomenclature.
This flower is not native to our country Bangladesh. We are just using this flowering plant at gardens. But it is recommended to keep the plant away from kids. Attractive colorful fruits from this plant is highly toxic.
