The name of the flower is Blue rock bindweed, which is also known as Ground blue-convolvulus, African bindweed (as it is native to North Africa along with Italy). Botanical name of the flowering plant is Convolvulus sabatius and belongs to the family Convolvulaceae.
Blue rock bindweed (Convolvulus sabatius) is a fast growing perennial plant (annual in colder climate). This is a herbaceous trailing ground covering plant with woody base. The stem and leafs are hairy. Leafs are small, oval shaped with narrow tip, and arranged alternately.
Flowers of Blue rock bindweed (Convolvulus sabatius) are light-blue, purple-blue, lavender-blue in color with white and then yellow at center. They are exactly similar to the typical morning glory flowers, but smaller in size (3cm in diameter). Funnel shaped flowers are very beautiful. Throughout the year the plant brings plenty of showy flowers. Flowers born from the axil of stem and leaf of the plant.
This plant is a nice ornamental flowering plant as it doesn't require that much care but brings plenty of showy attractive flowers. This plant is excellent in rock gardening. Also the plant is not an invasive one.
