Chondro Mollika, Chrysanthemum


Chrysanthemum is a perennial flowering plant having approximately 30 species. This flower is often called as Mums, Chrysanths, etc. It belongs to the plant family Asteraceae. In Bangladesh this is known as Chondro Mollika. This flower is native to Asia and Europe. Chrysanthemum is the symbol for Japan's Royal family.

This plant can grow as bushy up to several feet. It uses to generate new buds from the root as it grows. Propagation of Chrysanthemum can be done using those buds or from seeds. Leafs are having multiple zigzags at both sides with tip. Leafs are very soft and could produce a pungent smell when crashed.

Chrysanthemum flowers are having numerous petals. Petal size and shape can vary based on variety, but roughly more or less the shape is lens like. The petals are hardy and stay longer compare to other flowers. When it blooms it blooms profusely. In most cases the flowers cover the whole plant and hardly the leafs are seen. Chrysanthemum come in many colors due to the variety.
