ইংলিশ নাম ব্যাচেলর বাটন, আর বাংলায় আমরা বলি বোতাম ফুল... উলের কাপড়ের উপরে যে ছোট ছোট বোতামগুলো থাকে, লাল বেগুনি সাদা এই ফুলগুলো দেখতে অনেকটা সেইরকমই মনে হয়... আমাদের দেশে বাগানেই আমরা এই ফুল লাগায়, কিন্তু এইটার আগমন হয়েছে দক্ষিন আমেরিকার ব্রাজিল ও তার আশেপাশের দেশ থেকে...
In Bangladesh we call this Botam Ful. Common names are Bachelor Button, Globe Amaranth, gomphrena, etc. In Sanskrit this flower is know as RoktoMollika Ful(রক্ত মল্লিকা ফুল), and in Nepal it is known as Shupari Ful(সুপারি ফুল). This flower is originally native to Brazil and adjacent region. Botanical name of the flower is Gomphrena globosa and pertains to the plant family Amaranthaceae.
This annual herb flowering plant can grow up to two feet in height. Oblong leafs are arranged opposite at the stem and wooly at young. Color of the flower can be purple, red, pink, white, orange, lavender, etc. Flowers are small and looks like a button.
