Berela, a semi woody weed that uses to grow at the roadside, wasteland, and the bushes around. English name of the weed is Arrowleaf Sida, Paddy’s lucerne, etc. This weed flower belongs to the plant family Malvaceae. Botanical name of the plant is Sida rhombifolia. In Bangladesh we use to call this weed as Berela or Shetberela.
Arrowleaf sida (Sida rhombifolia) is an annual woody bush plant. Leafs of this annual plant are with short petiole. Leafs are toothed at the border with visible alternate veins. Flower arises from the area axil of leaf and stem. Mature leafs of the plant turns into darker color (i.e. blackish purple).
Arrowleaf sida (Sida rhombifolia) flower is creamy yellow in color. It has five petals. A bunch of stamens is located at the center of the flower having deeper color than the flower petals. Petals are sometimes crappy and wavy. When folded the flower takes a shape of a cup. Being small and not having a bright color this flower remains unnoticed despite of having numerous flowers bloomed at a time.
