আমাদের খুবই পরিচিত একটা ফুল হলো বাগান বিলাস. আমদের দেশের মোটামুটি প্রায় সব জায়গায় এই গাছ চোখে পরে... বিশেষ করে বাড়ির সামনের গেট অথবা পার্কে... বিভিন্ন রঙের হয়ে থাকে এই গাছের ফুল... লাল, কমলা, হলুদ, সাদা, গোলাপী, আরো কত রং...! দক্ষিন আমেরিকার এই ফুলের গাছটিকে এখন আর বিদেশী গাছ বলে মনেই হওয়া... আমরা এই ফুলকে বাগান বিলাস ফুল, কাগজ ফুল, কাগজি ফুল প্রভিতি নামে চিনি...
Bougainvillea is known as Bagan Bilash(বাগান বিলাস), Kagoj Ful(কাগজ ফুল), Kagji Ful(কাগজি ফুল), etc in Bangladesh. This flowering plant is native to South America. It pertains to the plant family Nyctaginaceae. Botanical name of the flower is Bougainvillea glabra.
This is a woody vine like plant. Using its spike, it can easily entangle other plants or fence. Plant can grows 1-12 meter in height. Leafs are ovate shaped. The color of the flower is red, yellow, pink, purple, white, orange, etc. The flower has three or six bracts having any of the mentioned colors. Doesn't have any smell.
This plant is using as ornamental flower for its bright colorful bracts. People used to say this plant as Paper Flower because of the paper like bracts. It produces lot of flower throughout the years. Sometimes you'll find the count of the flower is greater compare to leafs count.
