Apple of Sodom(আকন্দ ফুল) - Calotropis procera

আগেরবার আকন্দ ফুল নিয়ে একটা লেখা লেখছিলাম... তখন জানতাম দুই ধরনের আকন্দ ফুল হয়... কিন্তু এখন দেখছি আরো এক ধরনের আকন্দ ফুল হয়... এইটার পাপড়ি গুলা আবার চিকন না... একটা আরেকটার সাথে লেগে থাকে, আর অনেকটাই গোলাকার দেখতে...



This is another variety of Akondo Ful(আকন্দ ফুল). Though in our native language, all varieties are having same name, but in English, this is known as Apple of Sodom. Botanical name is Calotropis procera. It belongs to plant family Asclepiadaceae.



Flowers are round shaped and petals are slightly lobbed. The semi bloomed flower looks like a crown, and also inside the flower, you'll find another crown formed using stigma and stamens.



Basically the petals and round sapped flower buds are prime difference between Calotropis gigantea and Calotropis procera. Otherwise the leafs are almost similar, elliptical. And the medicinal uses are same too.
