Carrot Grass(গাজর ঘাস ফুল) - Parthenium hysterophorus

আজকের ফুলের যুতসই কোনো বাংলা নাম আমি জানি না... ভারতের লোকজন গাজর ঘাস বলে... তাই আমিও এইটাকে গাজর ঘাস ফুলই বলছি... খুব সামান্য ঔষধি গুন থাকলেও, এইটা একটা ভয়ানক ক্ষতিকারক আগাছা... প্রচন্ড দ্রুত বাড়তে থাকে এই গাছ... এক ধরনের রাসায়নিক পদার্থ বের হয় এই গাছ থেকে, যা এর আশেপাশের ছোট ছোট ঘাস ও অন্যান্য উদ্ভিদকে গজাতে এবং এর বৃদ্ধিকে ব্যাহত করে... ধারণা করা হয় ভেজাল আমদানীকৃত গমের সাথে এই ক্ষতিকারক আগাছা আমাদের বাংলাদেশে প্রথম প্রবেশ করে...



Carrot Grass is an invasive weed. It is such a plant that contains toxin parthenin. For this reason, it's botanical name is Parthenium hysterophorus, belongs to plant family Asteraceae (Sunflower family). It has several English names such as Bitter weed, Santa Maria Feverfew, Parthenium Weed, etc. I don't know whether any Bengali(বাংলা) name available or not, but what about Gajor Ghash Ful(গাজর ঘাস ফুল)?

Carrot Grass(গাজর ঘাস) is an extremely fast growing weed plant. Plants are like small herbs but can be woody shrubby when accruing with time. Leafs are pale green and branched. Flowers are small and having five corners. At each corner something like petal is available.

Look how invasive this is.
No other plants can grow here until its totally eradicated.

This plant is not only invasive, also it is harmful for crops, humans, animals, etc. It releases a chemical which use to hinter the growth and germination of the small grasses and other plants nearby. It is assumed that this noxious weed was first imported at this subcontinent with contaminated wheat.
