Goyali Lota(গয়ালী লতা) - Adiantum philippense

ছোট বেলায় বইতে পড়েছিলাম অপুষ্পক আর সপুষ্পক উদ্ভিদ... ফার্ন ছিল তার মধ্যে অপুষ্পক উদ্ভিদ... আজকে সেই অপুষ্পক ফার্ন নিয়ে লেখা... আমাদের গ্রাম বাংলার চিরাচরিত ফার্ন বা ঢেকি শাক নিয়ে না... আজকে যেই ছবি দিচ্ছি তা আমাদের দেশের পাহাড়ি এলাকাতে বা কিছু এলাকার জঙ্গলে হয়ে থাকে... ফুল হয়না, কিন্তু দেখতে সুন্দর এই ফার্ন গাছ... বাংলায় একে গয়ালী লতা বলে... ঢাকায় নার্সারীতে ইদানিং দেখা যায় এই গাছ বিক্রি করতে...



Its not any floral plant. Its just a simple fern plant grows at our jungles. Botanical name of the plant is Adiantum philippense. Adiantum refers to something that cannot be wet. It belongs to the plant family Pteridaceae. I am not sure, but possibly this is called as Goyali Lota(গয়ালী লতা) in our country Bangladesh(বাংলাদেশ).



Our Goyali Lota(গয়ালী লতা) is known as Maiden hair to English people. Though it is growing at our jungles, but still people are cherishing this plant as ornamental for it's distinctive outlook. Even at Bangladesh(বাংলাদেশ) we are using this plant at pots.



Its a small fern plant which can grow up to several centimeters. The frond of the plant is having exotic leafs arranged at both sides. Color of the stripe of the fern is black when matured, otherwise green.



Photos of this article were taken from Khagrachhori(খাগড়াছড়ি) during July 2012. I was traveling there for visiting multiple waterfalls.
